THE REASON I STARTED THIS BLOG

Many times I was thinking of writing a blog. About my life, my travels, countries I have been to, people I got to know or places that marked my personality.
I wanted to write about my experience, things that make me change and see the world from a different perspective. The perspective of many cultures, many people, diverse social systems.
Whenever people are asking me “Where are you from?”, I hesitate. And sometimes kinda feel embarrassed not to say straightforward “From Poland”. But I think I shouldn’t feel that way. It is my reality; it is the world and all the countries I’ve been to or lived in that created my character. My personality, for many, it is difficult to put in a square box of systems or defined stereotypes.

I am born in Poland, lived there until I was 20, and then I left it forever. I went to Germany, and in Spain lived for years. I love Spain; it is my beloved country, country of beautiful people and unusual places. During my stay in Spain, I was working, studying, travelling, surfing, training and making longlasting friendships.

Today, I live in Iceland, an island which is one of the most beautiful places in the world. Working as a guide, doing spectacular outdoor activities. Coming to Iceland, I didn’t expect I will move and make my living here.

No words will describe the beauty of this unique country. I have been planning to stay in Iceland for 6 months with Capoeira project (Afro-Brazilian martial art), and now I have been here for 6 years.
Ups, here, I might be revealing how old I am … But it doesn’t matter, people, say that women are only getting more and more beautiful with age. ๐
Through all my life, I have travelled a lot and conducted a nomadic lifestyle. Many times gave up stability for an experience or adventure.
I have been to 42 countries and lived in 6 for more than six months. One of my most extended trips lasted for 2 years. I travelled through Central and South America.
I speak 6 languages and have a knowledge of 10. I had to adapt me to hundreds of situations and human mentalities.
Countless times, I was wondering who I am and if I am the same Magdalena from Poland.

Many hours of reflections, mix feelings of joy, happiness, hope, sadness, longing, nostalgia, need of change and overcoming difficulties.
It is not easy to live in different countries, and changing habits all over again, ways of thinking, way of talking to people, making new friendships. But in my case it just happens, that is my nomadic gipsy soul. And in the end, it is rewarding.
However, Iceland is one of the places that bring me to a state of calmness and peace. Inspires to channel my thoughts, reflections and acts. It shows me patience and allows me to classify my life in mental boxes. ๐ฉโ๐ป
And that is why I am here with my Blog, where I am going to share with you my experience, my adventures, happy times and a piece of advice if you feel like you want one. ๐
Now is the right time for my Blog!!!

It is amazing to see how you have decided to leave your life and it is really inspiring to hear all your stories. I completely agree and admire you so much for what you are leaving and doing
I think is fundamental to get to know different cultures and places to always keep our mind open and accept diversity
Who we meet and the adventures we live really define us as people and let as see society in a different way.
I am a vegetarian, I practice yoga and meditation and I love hiking and mountains and I have lived in india for 4 years.
Keep up with your work and inspiring women all around the word !

Hi everyone!
Iโve taken some time to read your comments, and I promise, if you are lucky enough to win the trip your dreams will be fulfilled!
I have previously visited Iceland. The Icelandic landscape feels like you are walking through a fairytale or a professional photographers portfolio. Actually, the photos donโt even do Iceland justice โ everywhere you look is just picture perfect.
I went to Iceland with a few friends for my 30th birthday. We hired a car, and drove almost all the way around in only a week. This is one of the reasons Iโm desperate to return โ we tried to squeeze so much into our trip that we forgot to sit back and admire its beauty. Also โ driving during the winter season was the most nerve-wracking experience. Much more than any roller coaster Iโve been on! I remember one time, there was frozen water (lake or river โ we couldnโt tell becuase everywhere was covered with a blanket of snow) both sides of the road, and we were unable to judge the depth from the car. The single track road was also iced over and as we made our way across, we could feel the loss of traction on the tyres. We fell silent. My first was clenched and my knuckles white, trying to release my anxiety. My mind was planning survival methods โ if we fell into deep water! Then, I have no idea how much time has lapsed, we felt the familiar resistance of the road. The atmosphere in the car instantly changed to relief (and once again joy)
This time round, I hope to thoroughly take in the Iceland feeling of serenity, as opposed to simply visiting the sites. I want to thoroughly enjoy those soft pinks and blues in the early morning, and potentially the vibrant purples and greens in the night sky ๐๐ญ๐คฉ

Hi Hannah,
Welcome to the community.
I enjoyed reading your post, and I totally understand you, hahhahah…Iceland is amazing, and at the same time, can be very challenging. Driving in the wintertime on icy roads got many in huge troubles. I am happy that you enjoyed it though, and want to come back.

Hi Magdalena
I love that you are living your life at your own terms and have not allowed society and the world at large to conform to its norms. Really enjoyed reading this and in a way having a glimpse into your life and journey and who you are. Thank you.

Itโs so great to read about you and get to know you. Itโs always refreshing to find like-minded individuals who are worldly and adventurous. What a fantastic life you have built for yourself, you sound like the most interesting person in the world!

You are amazing and I guess every new adventure creates a new aspect of who we are โค our souls are fed, our minds open and rich <3 it doesn't matter where we come from, it only matters where we are heading and all the beautiful moments we collect ๐ Wonderful post! I can "only" speak 4 languages fluently, so huge respect ๐๐

Hi Magdalena!
When you said you sometimes felt embarrassed not saying straightforward that you are from Poland, and that every place you lived at or visited created and formed your character came through really well for me. I remember my Godfather saying (who’s half Romanian, half Hungarian but he lived in Austria, France and for about 20 years now in Canada): We shouldn’t have to “be” Hungarian, or Romanian or even European. Anything, but human. Don’t get me wrong, he is proud of where he came from, he’s proud of his homeland but he also wants to be more then that! And that’s just so important!
Well spoken!!

Hello! What a wonderful blog. I resonate a lot with your words. When I was 15 I came across this quote that said โitโs not where you come from, but where you are goingโ (i donโt know who said it), and it marked me for the rest of my life. I am originally from Venezuela, but I consider myself a citizen of the world. After living in Caracas, NY, Montreal, Madrid and now, Pamplona, I have come across so many cultures that your description of a gypsy soul is so relatable! Congrats on all your efforts and sincerely sending you all the best vibes from Spain!!! Enjoy life and continue being a gypsy soul!!

WOW Magdalena, I am pretty sure you have had a very intense life, full of adventure and experience, and still you have! I see myself when you that live in diferent countries every little time it’s dificult, for some people is a necessity, which make de esperience even more dificult, for others is a mix of necessity and hungry of curiosity and love to live new experiences. I have been living in UK three years, two in Scotland and one in England and that time change me in some way. It’s what you say, we are de places we are lived os visited, the people we are meet, the books we are read and the experience we are lived.
